The eagerly anticipated movie Thandel, starring naga chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, is presently showing in cinemas. Remarkably, the movie isn't doing well in the United States, even with its star strength and well-established setting. As of monday at 9 PM EST, it has made $670,000 thus far. Given the incredibly sluggish monday trend, it appears that the movie will be a huge letdown for its American distributor.

Thandel may not even reach $1 million, but it requires between $1.3M and $1.4M to break even. These days, it is uncommon for a movie with such a stellar cast, a capable technical crew, and DSP music to have such a difficult time breaking the $1 million barrier. Although $1 million is no longer a noteworthy milestone for tollywood films, Thandel is having a lot of trouble in the United States.

Since the second half could not produce the necessary buzz or good word-of-mouth, the director Chandoo Mondeti bears the most of the burden. After Game Changer, which was a complete failure in January, Thandel is turning out to be a huge letdown in the United States. More on this later. Thandel will be yet another significant setback for tollywood in North America if this tendency keeps up.
