Since Devara was the NTR's next project after RRR, there were great hopes for it from the beginning. Accordingly, the movie had a respectable start at the box office. Nonetheless, there was a widespread belief a few days following the release that koratala siva did not fully use NTR.

The criticism was that koratala had enough of time to produce a powerful cinematic experience, yet at most he was able to produce a substandard work. The primary criticisms were over the poor cinematography and framing, especially when it came to NTR's portrayal. Furthermore, there was a lot of criticism directed at the production quality.

With pass grades, koratala might barely make it, which might partly be attributed to NTR's popularity at the box office. But today, this story is gradually shifting once more. One may argue that Devara is a superior product when compared to other recent star-studded hero movies. Anirudh was able to provide some amazing songs for the director, and the musical prodigy composed a pulsating background soundtrack all by himself. Despite the film's visual shortcomings, the musical section was a huge success.

On the other hand, the director did not produce a subpar work that lacked even face value. He did, in fact, create a picture that had enough positive aspects to save face. This movie, at least, was spared the same fate as its predecessors, which is fortunate. This is something koratala deserves credit for.

Another cherry on top is Chuttamalle's reunion with Ed Sheeran, which keeps the movie afloat at this point—especially since koratala is adamant about making a sequel. In the end, if ntr has this goal at all, Siva might at least produce a respectable product that may even take a look at the sequel concept.
