Farmer Protest: Under the leadership of Samyukta Kisan Morcha and other farmer organizations, farmers have been agitating on the Shambhu border and Khanauri border for the last year.
The meeting to be held on friday (February 14, 2025) with farmer leaders under the leadership of Union minister Prahlad Joshi is over. Sarwan Singh Pandher and other farmer leaders in the 28-member delegation of farmers had reached mahatma gandhi State Public Administration Institute in chandigarh to attend this meeting. Now the next meeting in this matter will be held on February 22. However, no official information has come out yet about whether the meeting will be held in chandigarh or Delhi.
In this meeting with farmer leaders, there was a possibility of resolving the issues of agitating farmers including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP). However, before this, all the efforts of talks between the farmers and the central government have been fruitless. It is expected that all these demands were discussed in this meeting.
In this meeting with the farmer leaders, along with the punjab government's Agriculture minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddia, another minister Lal Chand Kataruchak also participated. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on an indefinite hunger strike over the demands of the farmers, also attended this meeting. Dallewal had announced a hunger strike after he was taken into custody by the punjab Police on 26 November 2024.
The Supreme Court had intervened in the matter when Dallewal's condition became critical during his indefinite hunger strike. However, despite all efforts, Dallewal's hunger strike is still going on. On September 2, 2024, the supreme court constituted a committee on the petition to open the Shambhu border.
Under the leadership of the United Kisan Morcha and other farmer organizations, a movement has been carried out by the farmers on the Shambhu border and Khanauri border for the last year. All these farmers are agitating for the demands of legal guarantees regarding MSP and other issues.
