For the first time since 2007, state-owned telecom provider bharat sanchar nigam limited (BSNL) has achieved a stunning turnaround and earned a profit. For the first time in 17 years, bsnl reported a quarterly profit of ₹262 crore in the third quarter of the fiscal year 2024–25.
This accomplishment has been linked to network expansion, 4G service introduction, cost optimization, and growth across all business segments. By the conclusion of the fiscal year, the PSU anticipates revenue growth to surpass 20%. In a formal statement, bsnl stated, "This milestone reflects the company's focus on innovation, aggressive network expansion, cost optimization, and customer-centric service improvements."
As he announced the quarterly financial results, BSNL's CMD, Shri A. Robert J. ravi, stated: "We are pleased with our financial performance this quarter, which reflects our focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, and aggressive network expansion."
"With these efforts, we anticipate revenue growth to improve further, surpassing 20% by the end of the fiscal year," ravi added. Compared to the third quarter of the previous year, revenue from mobility, FTTH, and leased lines has grown by 15%, 18%, and 14%, respectively. Furthermore, bsnl has effectively cut its total spending and finance costs, which has resulted in a decrease in losses of more than ₹1,800 crore over the previous year.
"We have implemented innovations like National WiFi Roaming, BiTV - Free Entertainment for All mobile customers, and IFTV for All FTTH customers to improve our customer experience," he continued.
