Odisha: After repair, a list of valuables kept in the Ratna Bhandar of jagannath temple will be made, the government said in the assembly


Odisha: In response to a question in the odisha Legislative assembly, State Law minister prithviraj Harichandan said that the list of valuables kept in the Ratna Bhandar of puri jagannath temple will be prepared after the repair of the Ratna Bhandar.


Odisha Law minister prithviraj Harichandan told the state assembly on saturday that the list of valuables kept in the Ratna Bhandar of Puri's jagannath temple will be prepared after the completion of the ongoing repair work in the treasury. Let us tell you that, in a written reply to a question by Biju Janata Dal mla Tusharkanti Behera, the minister said that the Ratna Bhandar was opened on July 14, 2024, as per the guidelines approved by the state government.

Minister prithviraj Harichandan told the matter that after shifting the jewelry from the treasury, the repair work is in progress by the ASI (Archaeological survey of India). The minister said, 'The list of jewelry will be prepared after the completion of the repair work. Only after that detailed information about the ornaments can be given.' He said the previous inventory of the valuables stored inside the 'Ratna Bhandar' was made between May 13 and July 23, 1978.


In another written statement to the House, minister Harichandan said data collected from old land records shows that a total of 60,426.943 acres of land is in the name of Sri Jagannath Mahaprabhu Bije, puri in 24 out of 30 districts of Odisha. He said out of these lands, 38,061.892 acres of land are currently in the title record in the name of Sri Jagannath Mahaprabhu Bije, Puri.


The minister further said the temple has received a revenue of Rs 33.02 crore from the land properties available in the state during the financial year 2023-24. Similarly, 607.760 acres of land of Sri Jagannath Mahaprabhu Bije, puri, spread over 259 plots in Puri tehsil has been acquired for the proposed Vedanta university at Puri and the temple office has received Rs 8.80 crore for this.
