In an attempt to attract indians seeking to enter the US illegally through Canada, human traffickers have discovered a new advertising platform: TikTok. According to a New York Post investigation, the traffickers known as "coyotes" have been charging up to $5,000 for their services.

A hassle-free passage from places like Montreal, Brampton, and Surrey into the US states of New York or Washington is promised by the "payment after reach" offer, which claims to give a "100% safe" voyage.

Additionally, the accounts frequently include comments from "satisfied customers," boasting in punjabi about how "easy" and even "comfortable" the experience was, much like genuine businesses do.

According to a smuggler contacted by the New York Post, the trip costs $4,500 and includes a two-hour drive and a 25-minute trek through the woods, during which migrants are handed a map to help them traverse the border. They are said to take up to five people at a time on these "group walks."

"The posts often feature a US flag waving over a wooded northern border, set to indian music, urging wannabe border crossers to DM them for more details," the paper stated. It further stated that at least six of these coyote accounts are still active on TikTok.

A trip to New York involves a two-hour drive and a 25-minute hike through an unsecured area of woodland. At the official crossings in Champlain and Mooers, New York, the migrants are handed a chart to help them cross the border.

Even though the US has stepped up its campaign, the traffickers are still using social media to facilitate illegal migration. The second deportation flight of the year arrived in amritsar on saturday when 119 illegal indian immigrants from the US boarded an aircraft. According to sources, there are 67 people from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, 8 from Gujarat, 3 from Uttar Pradesh, 2 from maharashtra and Rajasthan, and 1 from each of Goa, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & kashmir on board.

A US military aircraft carrying 104 deportees touched down in amritsar last week.
