On Wednesday, february 19, the Uttar Pradesh police declared that they had filed charges against two social media accounts for allegedly sharing and selling offensive recordings of pilgrim women taking a bath at the maha Kumbh. As part of a stepped-up attempt to stop disrespectful and deceptive social media postings on the religious festival, Uttar Pradesh police chief prashant kumar issued directives that led to this punishment.

Social media Violation and Legal Action
The social media monitoring team found specific outlets that were disseminating recordings of women taking showers and changing clothing at the Kumbh, infringing on their privacy and dignity, according to an official statement. Consequently, legal steps were started and complaints were filed at the Kotwali Kumbh mela police station.

Details of Registered Cases
On february 17, an instagram account was charged with sharing offensive footage of female pilgrims. Instagram's parent company, Meta, has been asked by the authorities to furnish information on the account operator. Following receipt of the information, additional measures, including potential arrest, will be implemented.
 
February 19: A Telegram channel that was purportedly selling comparable films was the subject of a different case. Both the inquiry and legal actions are still in progress.
