A 26-year-old man from Karimnagar, telangana, accidentally swallowed a pen cap when he was 5 years old. He told his parents about it. But since there was no physical damage at that time, the parents kept quiet, thinking that the boy was saying something wrong. After that, the whole family forgot about it. As the boy grew up and became a teenager, he became unwell. He had lost weight and was suffering severely. During treatment, it was discovered that the pen cap was stuck in his lungs. Doctors successfully removed it. Regarding this, pulmonologist Dr. Subhakar Nadella said that the patient's condition had deteriorated over the last 10 days. He said that he had difficulty breathing while sleeping.
A CT scan revealed an infection in his left lower lung. Initially, we suspected a blockage. But we were shocked to find a pen cap inside. If it had been a few more years, the affected area would have had to be surgically removed, he said. The doctors who successfully removed the pen cap have spoken to relatives. At that time, the elder brother recalled that his younger brother had accidentally swallowed a pen cap when he was five years old. Doctors are treating the lung damage caused by the pen cap.
