Citing the ancient medicinal treatise "Huang Di Nei Jing" (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) as inspiration, the corporation states that this policy intends to improve workplace discipline, efficiency, and staff morale, according to the South china Morning Post.
A key text in traditional Chinese medicine, it dates back 2,000 years. It highlights how crucial harmony and balance are to preserving health. The Yangcheng evening News reports that the business thinks this approach would improve workers' general well-being.
According to the company's policy, workers are allowed to use the toilet during designated time slots, which include before 8:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m. to 10:40 a.m., 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. to 3:40 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Additionally, employees on overtime shifts are permitted to use the facilities after 9:00 p.m. Outside these scheduled times, employees are only allowed to use the toilet in urgent situations and must limit their time to two minutes.
By strictly prohibiting bathroom usage during specific morning and afternoon hours, even for workers who put in extra hours, the corporation has gone one step further with its toilet policies. Employees who need to use the restroom during these limited hours due to unique medical circumstances, however, may request authorization from the HR department; nonetheless, they will be paid less for the time spent. The business will use surveillance cameras to keep an eye on staff members to enforce this regulation, and anybody found in violation will be fined 100 yuan.
The company's restroom policy was scheduled to go into effect on march 1 after being tested until the end of February. The company's employment number was not mentioned in the story, but an employee who asked to remain nameless told the media that the policy was valid.
Guangdong Yiyue Law Firm attorney Chen Shixing contended that the policy is illegal under labor rules since it endangers the health of its workers. Chen claims that any changes to pay, working hours, holidays, rest periods, or safety procedures must be reviewed and approved by all employees or their representatives following labor rules. According to Mr. Chen, employees are entitled to voice their opinions and denounce any practices that jeopardize their security and welfare.
There has been a great deal of indignation and criticism directed at the limiting restroom usage regulation. One user said, "Anyone with common sense can understand that the management imposed this restriction arbitrarily. It is an example of an authoritarian management style at this company, implying a severe approach to staff members.
Another person said, "It's dishonest! It even asserts that Huang Di Nei Jing is its inspiration. That literature, however, stresses the need to get enough sleep and cautions against working after sunset. Doesn't the business disregard that?
