Trump again spoke on USAID funding...
US President Donald Trump has again reiterated his tough stand on the financial help allegedly received from the united states Agency for international Development (USAID) for elections in India. He has said that india does not need this money. He also reiterated his criticism of high tariffs in india and said that India takes great advantage of America.
According to news agency ANI, while addressing the Conservative Political Action Conference, he said, "India is being given $ 18 million to help in its elections. Why? Why don't we use the old paper ballots and let them help in their elections, we are giving money to india for the elections. They do not need money." Question raised about tariffs
Regarding the tariffs imposed in india, trump said, "They take very good advantage of us. We are one of the countries with the highest tariffs in the world. We try to sell something. They have a 200 percent tariff and then we are giving them a lot of money to help them get elected."
S jaishankar also gave a statement on this issue
Amid the controversy over funding by USAID for some activities in the country, External Affairs minister S Jaishankar on saturday said that the information given by the trump administration is worrying and the government is investigating it. He said this in a conversation with sanjeev Sanyal, member of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council, during the DU Literature festival organized at Shri ram college of Commerce (SRCC).
Jaishankar said, "I think some information has been put forward by people of the trump administration, and obviously it is worrying. This shows that there are activities that have a certain purpose to promote a discourse or point of view. He said, “As a government, we are investigating it, because such organisations have an obligation to provide information and I believe the facts will come out.”
