The hyderabad municipal corporation-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>greater hyderabad municipal corporation (GHMC) has increased its attempts to collect an extra Rs 600 crore in income by march by sending letters to more than 6 lakh hyderabad property owners as the fiscal year draws to a close. Additionally, companies without trade licenses or those with outstanding renewals have received 1.5 lakh notifications.
 
In the last week, authorities have locked 100 facilities, including private hospitals, schools, hotels, and business complexes with unpaid debts, as part of their tough measures against defaulters.
 
In Hyderabad's Serilingampally zone, where revenue collection has been inadequate, the crackdown on property owners is particularly concentrated.  With so many high-rise structures and commercial establishments, officials are calling for improved enforcement in Hitech City, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Kondapur, Chandanagar, and Miyapur.


Massive property tax arrears in Hyderabad
The majority of the 700 structures in jubilee hills Circle, 650 in Khairatabad, 550 in Goshamahal, 280 in Begumpet, 180 in Saroornagar, 140 in Amberpet, and 150 in Mehdipatnam are among the more than 4,000 buildings that owe more than Rs 5 lakh in property taxes.
 
 Government buildings are among the largest defaulters, with an outstanding tax debt of Rs 4,000 crore.  While a government office on Road No. 12, banjara hills has an unpaid property tax balance of Rs 1 crore, a well-known government hospital in Punjagutta owes multiple crores.


A further Rs 600 crore has been added to GHMC's outstanding debts this year due to the default of 3.09 lakh hyderabad property owners who paid taxes for two years in a row.
 
 According to Eenadu, the corporation has sent out 6,34,552 notifications in total, with 4,500 homes owing more than Rs 5 lakh apiece. This adds up to an overdue balance of Rs 3,500 crore.
 

GHMC seizes Taj Banjara Hotel in Hyderabad
The Taj Banjara Hotel was seized by the ghmc one day prior due to outstanding property tax debts of Rs 1.40 crore.  obligations  The renowned home is situated in the posh banjara hills neighborhood of Hyderabad.
 
 According to reports, the hotel management received many notifications from ghmc requesting that they pay the unpaid tax balance.  It should be mentioned that Taj Banjara is not one of the hotels that are featured on the official Taj Hotels website as of february 2025.
