The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is presently being shown by JioHotstar, the recently amalgamated streaming behemoth.  However, after fans complained about offensive commercials during live matches, the site has run into problems.  The latest new zealand vs. pakistan match shocked many by showing explicit web series teasers throughout the broadcast.  Many viewers, especially those who were watching with family and kids, voiced their unease.

One worried spectator resorted to social media and wrote that such advertising make it incredibly unpleasant to enjoy cricket as a family sport.  Additionally, he asked whether there was a way to limit or eliminate such information.  He even said it was unfortunate that such graphic advertisements would be shown during a sporting event on an over-the-top platform.

JioHotstar (formerly JioCinema) has previously encountered criticism for its advertising decisions.  The site received backlash for condom advertisements during previous cricket seasons.  It was deemed improper by several users during family watching hours.

Some proposed restricting these advertisements to "adult time slots," such as after 11 PM, in order to prevent unpleasant viewing.  Although these worries are legitimate, the reality of wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital advertising makes matters more difficult.  Companies spend a lot of money to get advertising spaces during major events, such as cricket matches.

The platform itself has no control over the scheduling because advertisers choose when their adverts run.  Given that cricket is a popular sport in India, worries over its advertising content are probably going to increase, particularly during important competitions.  Family viewers that demand a more viewer-friendly experience may continue to criticize JioHotstar if these issues are not resolved.
