Bail case pending in Bihar... When the lawyer said this, the supreme court said - that is why there is some peace there

The supreme court was requested to direct the trial courts to settle the bail cases quickly.

The supreme court made an important comment on tuesday (February 25, 2025) regarding the pending bail cases in Bihar. The court has said that bail cases are pending in Bihar, that is why there is some peace there. A petitioner had appealed for bail in the court, but the supreme court rejected his petition and asked him to file a regular bail petition in the trial court.

According to the Bar and Bench report, the court was told that in Bihar, bail cases often remain pending for 9-9 months, so trial courts should be instructed to expedite their disposal.

A bench of Justice vikram Nath and Justice sandeep Mehta was hearing the bail petition. During the hearing, the petitioner's lawyer told the bench that bail cases remain pending for a long time in the courts of Bihar. He said that bail cases often go on for nine months, so lower courts should be directed to settle the cases quickly.

Justice vikram Nath said in the lawyer's argument, 'This is the reason why there is some peace in Bihar.' The bench rejected the request to give such instructions to the trial courts and also refused to grant bail to petitioner Nando Mehta. However, the petitioner can approach the lower court for bail.

The court said in the order, 'Considering this petition as withdrawn, the petition is dismissed and the petitioner is allowed to surrender within two weeks from today and apply for regular bail in the trial court. If such a petition is filed, the trial court will consider it on its merits.'
