As we have said in several articles, birth certificates for both government and non-government employment require several credentials for Indians, including aadhar cards, PAN cards, voter IDs, driver's licenses, and passports. Many people think that a birth certificate is just necessary for school entrance, but in reality, it has much more significance. Let's examine it in more depth.

1. Birth Certificate application and Change Deadline
The indian government has given residents until april 27, 2026, to apply for a birth certificate or to update any information on their certificate.  In addition, alterations can only be made before the deadline if the birth certificate contains any inaccurate information.  No more alterations or edits will be permitted after april 27, 2026.

2. Change in rules for birth certificate application
In the past, birth certificates could only be obtained within 15 years after the applicant's birth.  The government has now expanded this regulation, though.  Previously, it was not permissible for citizens above the age of 15 to apply for their birth certificates.  This was once scheduled to be completed by december 31, 2024.

3. How to apply for a birth certificate
For new applications, go to the government of India's official website at https://dc.crsorgi.gov.in/crs if you don't have a birth certificate.

For modifications to current certificates: Individuals who are above 15 or who need to update their birth certificates must apply offline.  Visit the local municipal office or the appropriate authorities in your region to accomplish this.
