This case started with an order of the kerala high court in 2022. In the high court, a woman named Saida demanded compensation, blaming the Kovid vaccination for the death of her husband. On this petition, the high court had ordered the National Disaster Management Authority to formulate a policy to compensate for death due to Kovid vaccination.
Center approached sc against the order of the High Court
The central government filed an appeal in the supreme court against the order of the High Court. The Centre argued that deaths due to coronadisease and deaths due to the effect of its vaccine cannot be kept in the same category. In 2023, the supreme court, while hearing the appeal of the Centre, put an interim stay on the order of the High Court.
Now the supreme court has asked the central government to clarify its stand. The court has said that the next hearing will be on march 18. Keep in mind that another petition on this issue is pending in the supreme Court. Responding to it, the Central Government has said that the COVID-19 vaccine program was voluntary. No one was forced to get vaccinated. It is wrong to seek compensation directly from the government for its side effects.
