Students studying from NIOS can also register for NEET UG!

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has now completely cleared the long-standing doubts and misconceptions regarding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG 2025). students studying from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) can also now apply for NEET UG 2025.

Due to the questions asked under RTI and the misunderstanding in the NEET UG 2025 information bulletin, there was doubt on this issue, which has now been completely clarified. NMC said in its official statement that the confusion regarding the NEET UG 2025 information bulletin is now over. Some people were claiming that this bulletin is not in accordance with the rules of NMC, but now it has been made clear that the candidates studying from NIOS will not have any problem in appearing in the examination.

NIOS students will not face any problem now

NMC also clarified that candidates studying in NIOS, state open schools or as private candidates can also appear in NEET UG 2025. Apart from this, students studying additional subjects from NIOS will also be eligible, provided they have done this study from a recognized institute.

Big update on eligibility for NEET from NIOS

Students who have completed 10+2 from NIOS are eligible for NEET UG. students studying Biology as an additional subject from NIOS are also eligible. However, answers are still not available on some technical questions about this.

How will students get the facility?

Now NIOS students can also apply for MBBS, but it is important to keep in mind that they all meet the standards set by NMC. If a student could not take Biology in 12th, but later studied Biology from NIOS, then he will need more clarity regarding the eligibility to apply.

Will the NIOS marksheet be valid?

As per Section 2 (F) of the RTI Act, 2005, no direct answer has been given regarding the validity of the NIOS marksheet. But generally the NIOS marksheet is considered valid for further studies and employment both in india and abroad.
