Some congress party leaders have harshly criticized karnataka Deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar for his journey to Sadhguru's ashram for Mahashivratri festivities and his holy plunge in the maha Kumbh, saying that his actions "damage the core" of the party.

He said that he is a Hindu who was born as such and respects other religions in response to the criticism from some congress leaders. Shivakumar clarified that he was invited by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev to see him.  He went on to say that he respects Sadhguru's wisdom and that he is a wonderful man.

"I am a Hindu," Shivakumar declared.  I love and respect all religions, but I was born a Hindu and will die a Hindu.  The president of our congress is mallikarjun Kharge.  Mallikarjuna is who?  Only shiva is there.  Is it time for him to alter his name?

"I was asked by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev of the Isha Foundation to attend the Shivaratri festivities in Coimbatore.  His hometown is Mysuru.  "He is a great man, and I respect his stature and knowledge, but many people criticize him," he said, according to TOI.

Shivakumar also talked about his experience visiting maha Kumbh and expressed gratitude for the manner the government had planned it.  "I had a great time with maha Kumbh.  I was pleased with how they planned it.  It's not an easy task.  Some issues may arise from time to time.  Problems could have been caused by trains.  I dislike pointing out flaws.  It's really satisfying," he added.

Congress Criticism Against DK Shivakumar

His remarks followed after the All india congress Committee (AICC) secretary PV Mohan expressed his disapproval on X, stating that the action of Shivakumar "damages the core" of the party.

Targeting Shivakumar's coimbatore visit, he said, "Thanking for an invitation from someone who mocks RG (Rahul Gandhi), the hope of the nation & aligns with RSS's narratives, while serving as a president of a secular party, it misleads party workers. It is conviction rather than compromise (that) ensures the party's growth. Otherwise, it damages the core."

"I am not criticizing," PV Mohan said in an interview with india Herald, adding, "I was just expressing my opinion about his (Shivakumar's) ideological ways."  The beliefs of Jaggi Vasudev and the Isha Foundation are similar to those of the bjp and RSS.  Rahul has stated time and time again that anyone who adheres to RSS ideology is free to quit the party, and we are vehemently opposed to them."
