The Ashwath Marimuthu-directed film Dragon, starring pradeep Ranganathan, opened in theaters on february 21 and has been favorably praised by viewers. It is also performing very well at the box office.  In tamil Nadu, pradeep Ranganathan's first film as an actor and director, love Today, was a tremendous hit.  Following its telugu release, the film simultaneously gave pradeep Ranganathan access to a sizable market in the telugu states.

The creators of Dragon disregarded the telugu states by failing to properly promote the film, even after love Today's success in the telugu market.  The success of love Today, not the promotions made by the Dragon crew, is the only reason why Dragon is currently performing well in the telugu edition as well.  It would have done very well in the market and perhaps even better in the telugu version if the Dragon team had properly promoted it in the telugu states.

On Day 2, however, the Dragon telugu version had around 50.3K reservations on the BookMyShow ticket booking portal due only to internet advertisements and word-of-mouth enthusiasm.  In the telugu states, it appears that the team has squandered a possible windfall.  In the days ahead, we'll have to wait and watch how the Dragon telugu version does at the box office.
