With his most recent tamil film, "Dragon," pradeep Ranganathan, the "Love Today" hero, has produced a masterpiece.  In addition to performing admirably in several A-class locations in the telugu states, the movie is doing incredibly well in tamil Nadu.  What's really startling the trade, though, is how well it performed in the United States.  The aggregate telugu and tamil box office receipts for Dragon by the end of saturday were $443,069.  When broken down, the telugu version made a very outstanding contribution of $140,087, or around 31.6% of the overall profit.

To put this into perspective, the most recent telugu film, Laila, directed by Vishwak Sen, completed its run with a total of just $48,656. The film earned nothing but negative reviews from its premieres.  However, after only two days of operation, Dragon's telugu edition has already tripled that amount in its first weekend.  This demonstrates unequivocally how effectively the movie is connecting with its intended audience and how powerful word-of-mouth can boost a movie's success when the substance is good.

Dragon's emotional depth has greatly increased its word-of-mouth popularity, making it more than just popcorn entertainment.  The picture is emotionally charged and a must-see in cinemas, as we noted in our review, both for its comedy and its emotional resonance.
