
Amit Shah Holds High-Level Meet With delhi CM & police, Orders Monsoon Action Plan, Crackdown On Illegal Immigrants
Union home minister amit shah chaired a meeting on Delhi's law and order, emphasizing strict action against illegal immigrants and ordering a "Monsoon Action Plan" to address waterlogging.
Union home and Cooperation minister amit Shah on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review law and order and coordination in the national capital. The meeting was attended by newly-elected delhi Chief minister Rekha Gupta, home minister ashish Sood, delhi police Commissioner, and other senior officials.
During the meeting, amit shah directed strict action against networks facilitating the entry of Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants into the country, assisting them in obtaining documents and enabling their stay. "The issue of illegal intruders is also related to national security and it should be dealt with strictly, and they should be identified and deported," Shah stated, as per news agency ANI.
Enforcement agencies were tasked with executing a comprehensive verification and deportation drive, as per the Ministry of home Affairs (MHA).
Shah also emphasized the need for a ‘Monsoon Action Plan’ to address water-logging issues in the capital, instructing the delhi Government to identify affected areas and take preventive measures.
Further, he directed authorities to take strong action against underperforming police stations and sub-divisions. "Strict action should be taken against Delhi's police stations, sub-divisions which consistently perform poorly," he said, as per news agency PTI. Stressing the urgency of tackling organized crime, the Union home minister stated, "Eliminating interstate gangs in delhi with a ruthless approach should be a priority for delhi Police."
Amit Shah Orders Speedy Disposal Of 2020 delhi Riots Cases
A key decision taken in the meeting was regarding the expeditious disposal of the 2020 delhi riots cases. Shah urged the delhi government to appoint special prosecutors to ensure speedy trials, as per the MHA, ANI reported.
Another policy shift was announced regarding construction-related matters, where it was decided that delhi police permission would no longer be required.
Additionally, the Union home minister instructed DCP-level officers to visit police stations, organize public hearings, and resolve citizen grievances. Addressing traffic congestion, he directed the delhi police Commissioner and Chief Secretary to identify areas facing daily jams and formulate immediate solutions to ease public inconvenience.
