
Pakistan shaken by explosion before Ramadan...?
A pro-Taliban mosque exploded in khyber pakhtunkhwa province of northwestern pakistan on friday (28 february 2025) ahead of the holy month of Ramadan. Five people were killed and many others were injured in the bomb blast at the Jamia Haqqaniya Madrasa.
Emergency imposed in the area
According to the report of news agency Associated Press, district Police Chief Abdul Rashid said that the blast took place in Akkora Khattak district of khyber pakhtunkhwa province. He said that the officials are investigating it and the injured are being taken to the hospital. No organization has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. The explosion took place in the main hall of the madrasa during friday prayers. According to the report of Dawn, the authorities have declared an emergency in the area.
Police called it a suicide blast
The Jamia Haqqaniya madrasa campus where the blast took place has around 4,000 students who are provided free food and education. According to a report by Pakistani Sama TV, KP IG Zulfiqar Hameed said that according to initial investigations, it appears to be a suicide blast. He said that it appears that Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani was the target.
Pakistan government condemns the incident
Pakistan government's interior minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the incident in a post on X. He said, "The enemy country is conspiring to create instability in Pakistan. We will foil every conspiracy of the enemy. We stand with the families of the deceased." He prayed for the speedy recovery of Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani and other injured.
Regarding the bomb blast in khyber pakhtunkhwa province, pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif said that such cowardly acts cannot weaken our resolve against terrorism. He said that we are committed to completely eradicate all forms of terrorism from the country.
