After a nearly 72-hour manhunt on friday morning, pune rape suspect Dattatraya Ramads Gade was apprehended from Shirur tehsil and appeared in court.
 
The accused is currently being held by the police for 12 days.
 
Police were given 12 days in prison instead of the 14 days they had requested to investigate the matter.  Gade, the accused's attorney, countered that the woman's allegations of rape were untrue and that the conduct was consensual sex.
 

The accused has 6 criminal cases against him
According to the CCTV evidence, the woman willingly boarded the bus where the alleged rape assault occurred.  Nonetheless, the public prosecutor informed the court that the defendant had a criminal history and six charges filed against him in the past.
 
"Five of these six cases against Gade involve female complainants," he stated.  Dattatreya Gade, the accused, has been placed into police detention until march 12.


Swargate depot vandalized
The Swargate bus station security cabin was vandalized by enraged villagers following the rape event, which caused widespread anger.  Dattatreya Gade, the accused, escaped the scene and went into hiding in his hometown after the tragedy.
 
 To find and apprehend the accused, authorities had to utilize hundreds of officers and drone cameras.  After a three-day manhunt, the accused was apprehended following a major hunt.


How incident unfolded
According to reports, the 26-year-old lady was raped early on tuesday morning as she was getting on a bus to her hometown of Phatan at the Swargate bus terminal.  Around 5:35 a.m., a guy approached the woman at the bus depot and inquired about her destination.  The accused instructed the victim to board a certain bus that was parked at the depot and lacked lights after she told him about her village.
 
The accused reportedly raped the victim after she boarded the aforementioned bus.  After the event, the woman went to the police and told them about her experience.
