Since its OTT release, Sanya Malhotra's Mrs., the hindi adaptation of The Great indian Kitchen, has generated discussion on patriarchy, marriage, and gender roles.  The discussion surrounding women's oppression and the power dynamics in marriage is exposing some harsh facts as more and more people watch it.  However, opinions on social media are varied; some see it as feminist propaganda, while others see it as an accurate representation of the lives of many married women.  Kangana Ranaut, the contentious bollywood queen, has also joined the fray.

She criticized the movie for encouraging divorce without mentioning it by name.  She believes that not all women experience this kind of tragedy and that the ladies of the home are the real queens.  She went so far as to say that people should quit expecting actual joy from their surroundings since it can only be found with the paramatma.  Because she took her powers for granted, she was despised by many internet users.

The fact that she was never exposed to a poisonous environment in her immediate surroundings does not excuse the horrors that many women in the nation endure.  A movie should be viewed as such if it increases awareness.  Many people believed that divorces were never the result of one person's actions.  Since kangana is well known for bringing controversy to light, this is nothing new to them.
