mauritius has issued lockdown-like notifications in response to Cyclone Gamane's landfall in both mauritius and La Runion.  Saint-Denis, which is only 227 kilometers from mauritius, is now under the storm's influence.

A high alert has been issued by the authorities, who advise everyone to stay indoors. The sources state that the storm is traveling at a pace of 195 kilometers per hour. Notably, according to the 2011 international Religious Freedom report, Hindus make up about 48% of Mauritius's population.

Similar to how the globe was told to stay inside during the COVID-19 epidemic, the nation is on high alert and everyone is being asked to stay indoors for their own protection. Only those who require basic items are permitted to leave the house.

When will the cyclone reach Mauritius?
Mauritius will begin to feel the effects of the storm as early as Wednesday. As a precaution against the storm, officials have decided to close the airport and announce Wednesday's school vacations.  As the hurricane approached, lockdown-like circumstances were created, prompting the issuance of a red warning for Thursday.

The storm was expected to arrive at mauritius by friday morning, according to the mauritius Meteorological Department.  The hurricane was 245 kilometers from mauritius around 4 AM on Friday. It was 227 kilometers closer by 9 AM.

How dangerous is Cyclone Gamane?
Cyclone Gamane is a very hazardous storm that is categorized as a Category 3 cyclone. It is crucial to remember that a Category 3 cyclone is classified as a "Severe Tropical Cyclone" and has wind speeds between 165 and 224 km/h. These storms have the potential to uproot trees, seriously damage structures, and create power outages in the impacted regions.

The cyclone was 310 kilometers (190 miles) northwest of the island on thursday, according to the mauritius Meteorological service, and it had grown into a "severe storm."

Flood Warning
The storm is directly threatening mauritius and is headed dangerously toward the island nation, according to the mauritius Meteorological Service.  A red alert has been issued because of the possibility of floods, the meteorological service stated.

The red warning went into force on thursday at 7 PM, according to officials.  By friday morning, the storm is predicted to get close to the island.  Authorities are asking everyone to remain indoors and only leave in case of an emergency since both mauritius and La Runion Island are currently under red alert.  Schools were closed as early as wednesday afternoon due to the circumstances.
