China promised retaliation tuesday for the United States' decision to levy tariffs on its goods. The US ruling has to do with fentanyl and other matters. On tuesday, the Chinese commerce ministry expressed disapproval of the actions taken by US President donald trump, claiming that the countermeasures were intended to protect its interests and rights.

According to the trump administration, china provides the chemicals needed to produce fentanyl.  China has denied any misconduct.

According to a statement from the ministry, the US has "shifted the blame" and is using its issues with the deadly narcotic fentanyl as a pretext to impose tariffs. The united states has been accused by china of "tariff pressure and blackmail" following President Donald Trump's announcement of new tariffs on imports from the second-largest economy internationally.

According to Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian, Washington has "used the fentanyl issue to insist on tariff pressure and blackmail," according to Reuters.

She went on to say, "It has created a serious impact, pressure, coercion, and threat to the dialogue and cooperation between the two sides in the field of drug control," raising the possibility of negative consequences.

Over time, US farm product exports to china have decreased, particularly since Trump's first term in office.  Trump's campaign pledge to control inflation may be undermined by the taxes on the nation's imports, which might raise the cost of consumer products.  Additionally, they might initiate a trade war between the world's two largest economies, which would impact markets worldwide.
