When priyanka was first asked to play the role of Vijay in the movie Tamizhan, priyanka said no to that movie.
But Madhu Chopra said that the producers of Tamizhan approached Priyanka's father and asked him to do the film, but priyanka did it out of admiration for him, as her father refused. She said that even though priyanka said no, the makers of Tamizhan did not listen and only asked her to give them time to shoot the film during the summer holidays for two months, and priyanka agreed because her father refused.
Madhu Chopra said that Vijay had a lot of respect for Priyanka, that Vijay used to help priyanka on the sets with great patience, that the steps in Prabhu Deva's brother Raju Sundaram's choreography were very hard, and that Vijay, being a professional dancer, made them easy, but priyanka struggled a lot to do that dance. She said that Vijay also helped priyanka a lot in terms of dancing, language, and dialogue.
