This year, tollywood has started out a little hesitantly and slowly. The box office has slowed down in recent weeks after the early surge brought on by sankranti season. More worrisome, though, is the fact that we do not yet have many games that show promise.
 
With several exciting films scheduled for this month, it looks like the real deal won't begin until May of this year.  Nani opens the month by bringing HIT 3 to the box office.  In addition to having the advantage of being a sequel, this movie promised to feature nani in his most violent and combative role to yet.

Next up is Suriya, a veteran from Tamil, who is bringing Retro.  This movie looks to be a classic action drama with excellent technical qualities and a compelling Suriya and pooja hegde duo.  It looks like director Karthik Subbaraj is working on a new movie with a retro action motif.  By the way, Retro and HIT 3 will both be available on May 1.  At the box office, these films will directly compete with one another.
 
Vijay Deverakonda's Kingdom, which is scheduled for release on May 30, comes towards the end of the month.  Vijay plays avatar in this movie, and the teaser looks extremely good.  As anticipated, the film's scope and canvas are enormous, and Vijay is offering something unusual this time.  This has got to be Vijay's most thrilling excursion in a long time.  Accordingly, we have three brand-new, intriguing, and thrilling releases coming out in May.  The tollywood audience is likely to experience a true cinematic frenzy this month.
