
CISF: 125 jawans will cover a distance of 6553 km in 25 days; Cyclothon will pass through 11 states and union territories
According to CISF, this initiative is more than a sports event. It reflects our commitment to raise awareness about national security in coastal areas and alert citizens about the dangers of smuggling, especially drugs, weapons and explosives. In the coming 25 days, 125 CISF cyclists, including 14 courageous women force members, will cover a distance of more than six thousand kilometers.
CISF is celebrating its 56th foundation day this year. On this occasion, CISF has launched a special campaign in coastal areas. It has been named 'CISF-Great indian Coastal Cyclothon'. Under this, people will be made aware of national security in coastal areas. This campaign will start on march 7 and will run till march 31. 125 CISF cyclists will cover a distance of 6553 kilometers in 25 days. This cyclotron will pass through 11 states and union territories. The theme of this CISF cyclotron has been kept as 'Safe Coast, Prosperous India'. According to CISF, this initiative is more than a sports event. It reflects our commitment to raise awareness about national security in coastal areas and alert citizens about the dangers of smuggling, especially drugs, weapons, and explosives. In the next 25 days, 125 CISF cyclists including 14 courageous women force members will cover a distance of more than six thousand kilometers. The journey will start from Lakhpat Gujarat on the west coast and Bakkhali West Bengal on the east coast and travel along the entire coast of mainland India. They will pass through cities like surat, mumbai, goa, mangalore, and kochi in the west. Haldia, Konark, Paradip, Vizag, Chennai, and pondicherry in the east and finally end their journey at Swami Vivekananda Memorial in Kanyakumari. Given the rigorous nature of this cycling expedition covering a challenging distance of 95 to 180 km per day, officers and personnel with exceptional physical and mental endurance have been selected. This includes an initial fitness assessment to assess cardiovascular health, baseline strength, flexibility, and aerobic capacity. The participants taking part in the cyclotron have been provided with intensive physical training at rtc Barwaha 'MP'. A four-day orientation at Bhuj airport has provided these participants with practical experience in real-world conditions. Here all the participants have been provided with navigation and route planning exercises, bike maintenance and repair workshops, teamwork and communication skills, riding practice in different weather conditions, and emergency procedure training.
On march 7, the cyclotron will be virtually flagged off by Union home minister amit shah from the CISF Regional Training Center located at Takkolam in the Ranipet district of tamil Nadu. The journey of the 3775 km western route will start from Kori Creek Takpat. Several events will be organized during the cyclotron. These include demo performances by CISF and events organized by local communities, school children, and NCC groups. Eight major events will be organized at Lakhpat fort on march 7, Gandhidham on march 9, surat on march 17, Gateway of india on march 20, Mormugao Port Authority goa on march 23, mangalore on march 26, Kannur on march 27 and Cochin on march 29. The event at Gateway of india will include performances by mumbai Police Band and CISF fire and Dog Squad.
After the cycling teams from both coasts reach Kanyakumari, there will be a grand finale where CISF will organize band performances, patriotic plays, and demos, among other events. These events aim to bring citizens together on a single platform. The main part of the rally is to connect with the local fishermen, and coastal community and showcase their unique and important perspectives across India. This cyclotron is not just a journey but also aims to touch the hearts of the countrymen and bind them together with every paddle. Every paddle stroke is a resolve to build a safe, strong, and united India.
