DoT stated that cybercriminals can issue SIM cards by exploiting your documents fraudulently in a post published from its official X handle. Cyber fraud can be committed with these phony SIM cards. You can prevent this by checking the SIM card that was issued in your name on the Department of Telecommunications' Sanchar Saathi webpage. You should report a number that appears to be active in your name but that you do not use right away. You must visit the Central Government's Sanchar Saathi app and webpage to do this.
How to find out fake SIM
The Department of Telecommunications said in its video that for this you have to go to the Sanchar Saathi (https://sancharsaathi.gov.in/) portal and remove the fake SIM card issued in your name by following the instructions given.
First of all, you have to go to the web portal or app of Sanchar Saathi.
Here you will get the option of Know mobile Connections in Your Name.
On clicking this option, a new window of TAFCOP will open for the users.
Enter your mobile number and captcha here.
After this, enter the OTP received on your number and log in to the portal.
Here you will get the details of all the SIM cards issued in your name.
If you see a fake number in your name, you can request to remove it by marking it as Not Required.
After the Telecom Department and telecom companies receive the request, action will be taken on that number issued in your name and it will be blocked.
