On their path to the American Dream, indian students in the US are encountering new challenges.  An OPT employee's recent experience reflects the community's overall horror.  A techie took to social media to disclose that they would have to wait until 2026 for their employer to sponsor their H-1B visa because of an internal business regulation.  The corporation stated that it would only support employees who had been with them for a year when the first-year OPT student was hired in november 2024.

If they stay with their current company, they will undoubtedly lose out on this year's H-1B lottery application deadline.  "Can I find another employer to file my H1B pick and if it gets picked can I ask my current employer to let them be my H1 filed company as my employer?" the immigrant student inquired, searching for alternative options.  Due to concerns about sponsorship issues and visa uncertainty, many US employers are avoiding recruiting international students in the current climate.  Many students will therefore be unable to participate in this year's H-1B lottery.

The sole option, as the user requested, is to look for another job to file their H-1B.  However, returning to their existing position is not usually easy, even if they are chosen.  Despite possessing the abilities, many will be compelled to leave the united states if they are not sponsored.  In light of all of this, prospective indian students ought to think carefully about whether America is still the country of opportunity that it once was.
