Indian-origin astronaut sunita williams went into space for the third time and has been stuck at the Space Station (ISS) for almost nine months. Along with her, Butch Wilmore is also there. It is known that US President donald trump, tesla CEO Elon Musk, and the Biden administration have recently criticized the lack of any efforts to return them to Earth. The astronauts responded to this. sunita williams said, "The uncertainty surrounding our return to Earth has become a big difficulty." Although they faced the concerns of a long stay on the ISS, Williams and Wilmore agreed that the situation would affect people on Earth. After the ISS's lifespan ends in 2030, nasa and international partners are planning to deorbit it. Musk has also recently proposed retiring the ISS.
Regarding criticism of the Biden government, Wilmore said, "These are political comments. We see this as part of life. politics has nothing to do with this." They encountered technical problems during their return process, due to which they remained on the ISS. nasa and SpaceX are working together to bring them back to Earth. For this second leg of the journey, some people will have to be sent to the ISS first. Officials have commented on the delay in the launch as SpaceX has time. However, sunita williams and Wilmore recently spoke to the media from space and said that the Crew-10 SpaceX ship will arrive on march 12, in which the new astronauts will take charge, and then they will return to Earth on march 19.
