On OTT, venkatesh Daggubati's Sankranthiki Vasthunnam is once again proving to be a dominant force.  The film broke records on ZEE5, achieving the largest-ever opening for a telugu film on the channel, following its successful theatrical run, during which the makers claimed it made over 250 crores globally.  Sankranthiki Vasthunnam made history by making her tv (Zee Telugu) and over-the-top (OTT) debuts at the same time on march 1, 2025. This audacious approach paid off handsomely.

For the largest OTT deal ever for a venkatesh movie, ZEE5 paid a record ₹30 crores to purchase the film's wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital rights.  The figures also demonstrate that the investment was worthwhile.  According to sources, the movie received 7 lakh views and an incredible 70 million viewing minutes within six hours of its wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital distribution.

With ZEE5 receiving 25,000 new subscriptions in a single day, the excitement also had a direct commercial impact.  For the platform, which usually has the same level of dominance as Netflix or amazon Prime, this is a huge accomplishment.  Fans soon pointed out, though, that the OTT version is a little shorter than the theatrical cut, which runs two hours and twenty-four minutes.  Some were disappointed by this, particularly those who were hoping for longer comedic sequences.

To keep viewers entertained, the Godari Gattu song was played twice during the Zee telugu tv launch, which adopted a different strategy.  Although OTT's first reception has been amazing, it is still unclear how viewers will respond in the days ahead and how many views the movie will receive.  One thing is certain—Sankranthiki Vasthunnam is a certified smash in theaters and is currently available on streaming services. However, some moments may draw trolling or criticism.
