In the US, fraudsters have made desperate Green Card applicants their main target.  In their struggle for survival, these scammers are developing new strategies to take advantage of the weaker immigrant populations.  A social networking user claims that they are now being used as "Visa Whisperer Mentors."  They entice susceptible individuals with false assurances of a simple EB1A Green Card certification.

The message begins with the "mentor" adamantly stating that he only deals with "handpicked talent."  After receiving a private call full of praise, the aspirant feels lucky and is drawn to the offer.  The fraudsters then proceed with their nefarious scheme, demanding $10–12K or more for a "proven" method that yields results in a matter of weeks.  To make your argument "strong enough," these individuals will further take advantage of your difficult situation and demand additional money from you.

The unfortunate truth is that some people are forced to go deeper into this rabbit hole even when they may have a gut feeling something is amiss.  In the US, disadvantaged communities are struggling to exist in an unpredictable political environment.  This is a well-planned fraud that takes advantage of skilled foreigners; it's not simply a scam.  Before completing any transactions, H1B employees should exercise caution in order to expedite the process of obtaining Green Cards.
