Kannada actress Ranya Rao admitted to the crime and told the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) that she had visited dubai as well as Europe, America, and the Middle east a few days after being arrested at Bengaluru airport in connection with a gold smuggling case.
 
In her first formal statement to the DRI, Ranya Rao acknowledged that 17 gold bars had been found in her possession, according to the india Herald.  The kannada star has asked for time to "take some rest" and has not provided authorities with any other information.
 
Because of her frequent travels to dubai, authorities had been keeping a tight eye on Rao, the stepdaughter of director General of police (Karnataka State police Housing Corporation) Ramachandra Rao.  She reportedly smuggled kilograms of gold on each of her 30 trips to the city in the last year, four of which were in a span of 15 days.
 
"I accept that 17 pieces of gold bars were recovered from my possession," Ranya Rao stated in the statement that was recorded during interrogation.  Please keep the proceedings as confidential as you can.
 
 The kannada actress disclosed that she had visited a number of nations.  "I have been to the Middle east, Europe, and America. I have also been to dubai, Saudi Arabia.  I would want to say that I am currently exhausted because I did not get enough sleep," she stated.
 
 Ranya Rao also reaffirmed her determination to assist the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence in the current inquiry to the fullest extent possible.  She also made it clear that she was not under any duress and that she gave her evidence willingly.
 
"I don't have anything more to say.  I reaffirm that I will assist with the current inquiry and that I will come before you as needed.  No religious feelings were offended as this comment was being recorded.  I've occasionally been offered food and drinks, but I've opted to sip water instead of eating since I'm not hungry.  I make this declaration willingly, in my normal state of mind, and without compulsion, threat, force, or inducement.  The actor informed DRI, "I have read over the contents of this statement, and they are as deposed by me."
