Even in the contemporary world, many of the amazing occurrences described in our legendary writings are hard to believe. Many of these old stories, meanwhile, are now turning out to be accurate. Around the world, scientists are doing previously unthinkable accomplishments.

For example, the epics of the Ramayana and Mahabharata include ideas like illusionary monsters, the Brahmastra, and beings who can move between realms in an instant.  Even while these concepts may not fully fit with current science, scientific discoveries are already making comparable developments a reality.

Recent accomplishments by indian scientists have shocked specialists from all around the world, including those in china and the US.  A contemporary 'Brahmastra' with an incredible speed of 12,144 km/h has been created by indian scientists.  For comparison, it would take about an hour to go from New delhi to Washington, D.C., at this rate.

LRAShM: India's Hypersonic 'Brahmastra'
The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) created this weapon, which is a hypersonic glide missile known as the Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRAShM). On november 16, 2023, it was successfully tested off the coast of odisha from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island. This missile has a 1,500-kilometer range and can destroy an enemy ship or battleship in 7 to 8 minutes after launch. Both land and maritime deployment are possible with its design.

The maximum speed of the LRAShM was first estimated by defense specialists to be between 6 and 7 Mach.  (The unit of sound speed is Mach; one Mach is equivalent to 1,235 km/h.)  Actually, though, this missile travels ten times faster than sound at a speed of 10 Mach. This indicates that it can go 3.37 kilometers in a single second, which is an absolutely incredible accomplishment.

How Does It Compare To china And The US?
One could question what other world giants, such as china and the United States, have accomplished in this area if india has made this accomplishment.  Similar weapons have been developed by both countries, such as China's DF-17 missile, which can reach speeds of 10–12 Mach and has a 1,000 km range.  But with the LRAShM, india has raised the bar for glide and scramjet technology.

In order to prevent the missile from becoming a fireball while in flight, special heat-resistant materials have been included to endure extremely high temperatures.

The indian Navy now enjoys a major strategic edge in the indian Ocean Region (IOR) thanks to the successful test of LRAShM.  In order to combat China's expanding influence in the area, this missile is very important.  For instance, LRAShM might destroy a battleship that was aiming for india from the Karachi port in pakistan in 4–5 minutes from Mumbai's shore.

India's Strategic Edge
China and pakistan pose serious maritime threats to india, which is why hypersonic missile technology is so revolutionary. India's LRAShM has a 1,500 km range, compared to 1,000 km for China's DF-17. india has reportedly underestimated the range of its missiles for strategic purposes, according to certain defense analysts.

With the LRAShM in its arsenal, india may now attack far into enemy territory before it can change their strategy, solidifying its standing as a powerful force in contemporary warfare.
