Marvel's Thunderbolts* video prompts A24 to mimic their aesthetic.  The forthcoming Phase 5 MCU film, which is scheduled for release on May 2, will be the franchise's second film of the year.  In a significant departure from the marketing strategy of previous Marvel films, the new official Thunderbolts* trailer draws inspiration from A24 videos by showcasing the highly regarded films of the cast and crew, including director Jake Schreier's Beef, lead star Sebastian Stan's A Different Man, and numerous others.

A24 then retweeted a post containing images from the new Thunderbolts* trailer on their official X/Twitter account, using an image from HBO's Euphoria to react to the surprise marketing trick. The image features Maddy Perez's (Alexa Demie) viral catchphrase from season 2: "Wait, is this f**king play about us?"

In addition to using cliffhanger scenes, which have been a defining feature of A24 trailers, the new Thunderbolts* teaser also makes reference to an alarming amount of A24 films.  The prestigious production business is the creator of Midsommar, You Hurt My Feelings, Minari, Beef, A Different Man, The Green Knight, and Everything Everywhere All at Once.  Marvel's marketing strategies to promote Thunderbolts* as being on par with an A24 film are further demonstrated by A24's response to the article.

Previously, Florence Pugh, who plays assassin Yelena Belova again in the film, described the next Marvel film as a "badass indie, A24-feeling assassin movie."  Additionally, according to Schreier, Thunderbolts* has "a certain amount of that Beef tone" and "emotional darkness," which sets it apart from previous Marvel productions.  A24 appears to concur that there will be more than a simple reference to their brand in the next Marvel film.
