A turning point in India-US trade relations..!?

Even though indian Prime minister Narendra Modi is a close friend of trump and campaigned for him in the previous elections, trump did not back down on India. He targeted india in terms of tariffs. He warned that if india does not reduce, we will also increase it instead of reducing it. He also gave time for this. It is not only canada and mexico that have backed down on Trump's blow, which is moving forward with America's own interests. Now india has also backed down. It has agreed to reduce tariffs. In this way, trump is achieving what he wanted.

US President Donald Trump's announcement that india has agreed to reduce tariffs has gained importance in the trade sector. trump has repeatedly said that American companies are facing difficulties in doing business in india due to high tariffs imposed by India. Referring to this issue, he said that india agreed to reduce the tariffs only after they had made this matter public. He raised the issue once again during a meeting held at the White House.
Tesla, led by Elon Musk, will soon enter India. Currently, india is imposing 110% tariffs on car imports. Elon Musk has expressed his dissatisfaction with this issue many times. Musk, who described india as the country that imposes the highest tariffs in the world, has made many efforts to introduce tesla cars in india with low tariffs. In this context, negotiations are underway between the two countries to completely eliminate tariffs on cars imported from the US. However, india is still reluctant to immediately completely eliminate tariffs. In this context, Trump's comments have gained more significance. US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick suggested that india should stop relying on russia for its defense needs. He believed that this would further strengthen Indo-US relations. He said that the US is ready to provide advanced American defense systems as an alternative. He also warned that the BRICS countries' efforts to find a new currency to replace the US dollar would be detrimental to the relations between the two countries.

Lutnick revealed that he had asked india to reduce tariffs on US imports. US President trump has also made it clear on several occasions that he would impose heavy tariffs on india, china, and other countries. He said that the tariffs imposed by india and china on april 2 will affect the US trade situation. The indian Ministry of External Affairs expressed concern over Trump's comments. It was revealed that it would try to further strengthen relations with the US under a multi-sectoral Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) to overcome tariffs and non-tariff barriers.

These developments mark a turning point in India-US trade relations. It will be interesting to see whether india will change its trade policies. These developments are likely to have an impact on the future trade relations between the two countries.
