Artificial Intelligence (AI) is currently being used by Teleperformance, a significant call center company, to "neutralize" indian accents for Western clients.  Concerns over ingrained prejudices against non-Western voices are raised by the action, which is purportedly intended to enhance communication.

In order to change the voices of indian call center personnel in real time, the French company has implemented artificial intelligence software from the American company Sanas.  They assert that by facilitating more natural dialogue, the objective is to promote "human empathy."  In actuality, however, it represents a concerning trend: the elimination of indian identity in order to accommodate Western tastes.

Teleperformance, which employs 90,000 people in india, serves well-known UK customers like the National health Service (NHS), eBay, and Vodafone.  To make indian accents simpler for Western clients to comprehend, the AI system alters them to sound more American or British.  However, why is it vital to alter indian speech patterns?

Instead of erasing customers' accents, why not encourage them to embrace them if businesses genuinely promote diversity?  Indian voices are not "good enough" for Western ears, according to this practice.  It perpetuates the notion that there is just one way to speak "acceptable" or professional English.  Millions of proficient english speakers from india and other nations are left out of this.

The technology's maker, Sanas, says it helps cut down on misunderstandings.  However, one may argue that it's just another instance of Western prejudice, as indian workers are expected to fit a predetermined norm rather than being appreciated for who they are.  Businesses should spend money on educating clients to be more accepting rather than trying to hide accents.  Respecting other viewpoints rather than suppressing them is a sign of true inclusion.
