Just before Women's Day, Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL Technologies, gave his daughter Roshni Nadar Malhotra a present that anyone could only aspire for. The wealthiest person in the nation, mukesh Ambani, has given his daughter Isha a lot of unusual presents, but Roshni's is unique.

One of the biggest promoter-backed companies and one of the top five tech corporations in the nation is HCL Technology.  Shiv Nadar is progressively giving his daughter more control over the business, and he has recently given her a sizeable interest in two HCL promoter firms.

As part of her father's succession plan, Roshni has now grown to be a significant shareholder in HCL. In a gift deed, Shiv Nadar gave his daughter Roshni Nadar Malhotra 47 percent of his shares in HCL Tech's two promoter firms, "Vama Sundari Investment" and "HCL Corporation."  Since then, Shiv Nadar's personal ownership of these businesses has decreased to barely 4%.

Furthermore, this has raised Roshni Nadar Malhotra's ownership of these businesses to 57.33 percent.  She now has more voting authority in board decisions as well.  In total, these two promoter group firms own 44.34 percent of HCL Technologies, according to statistics from december 2024.  Moreover, HCL Technologies is promoted by Shiv Nadar and Roshni Nadar Malhotra.  Additionally, they own 1% of HCL Tech directly.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra was also given an exemption from the regulations by market watchdog SEBI in november for transferring a sizeable portion of HCL Tech in this way.  Takeover laws apply to such a non-commercial transfer of shares amongst close family members.  Roshni Nadar Malhotra has been excused from the open offer requirement, which is necessary for this.  HCL's promoter holding won't alter as a result of the stock transfer.

However, the chairman of reliance Industries, mukesh Ambani, has also created a plan for his three children to succeed him.  In this case, the group's retail division will be entrusted to Isha Ambani, its telecom business to akash Ambani, and its energy business to Anant Ambani.  However, neither the full partition of these firms among the children nor the distribution of the shares among the children has yet to occur.

The promoter group owns more than half of reliance Industries.  Kokilaben, on the other hand, owns 0.24 percent of the corporation, while mukesh, Nita, Isha, Akash, and Anant each own just 0.12 percent, which also gives them the ability to vote.
