Since its 2016 debut, Udta punjab has received tremendous praise from both critics and audiences, making it one of the most remembered cult classics in indian cinema history. The film received a lot of favorable reviews for its gripping plot and strong performances by shahid kapoor, alia bhatt, kareena kapoor Khan, and Diljit Dosanjh, despite not being a box office hit.
 
People were immediately captivated by the picture because of its exceptional ensemble, and everyone found the final product to be a spectacle.  The movie made a significant impression on viewers and was a respectable box office success despite a number of issues with the censor board.

In addition to showing how drug use has impacted punjab, the movie was prohibited in numerous places for its graphic and drug-related content.  There has been a significant update on the project because the movie is still regarded by many fans as one of the most harsh and excellent depictions of drug usage.  Several reports claim that ekta kapoor is working on an Udta punjab sequel after nearly ten years, and shahid kapoor may be involved.

Despite the fact that a lot of details are yet unknown, shahid kapoor needs a strong supporting cast in order to succeed.  In order to make this project a huge success, ekta kapoor needs some well-known names, much like Udta punjab did.  Fans are eager to see shahid kapoor and Udta punjab in a reimagined role, but it's unclear how the movie will play out, who else will be in this big sequel, and whether or not the original cast will be back together, making the movie a cult classic.
