While speaking in the lok sabha, congress leader and leader of Opposition Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi made a demand that 'Questions are being raised on the voter list across the country. All opposition parties are raising questions on the voter list. Now the entire opposition is just saying that there should be a discussion on the voter list.'

Rahul gandhi said in the matter, 'We accept your comment that the government does not make the voter list. But we demand a discussion on this issue.' He said, 'Questions are being raised on the voter list across the country. In every state including Maharashtra, the opposition has raised questions in one voice.' On the other hand, rajya sabha MP kapil sibal said, 'The election commission is in the hands of the government... If democracy continues like this and the election commission continues to lobby for the government, then the results that will come are in front of you... If this system continues, then this is not democracy but a sham... We have had doubts for many years... Everyone knows what happens on the ground but there is no one to listen.

Earlier, trinamool congress member saugata roy said that there are some flaws in the voter list and West bengal Chief minister Mamata Banerjee has said that there are voters with the same EPIC (Electoral Photo Identity Card) number in Murshidabad and Burdwan parliamentary constituencies and Haryana. TMC said that a delegation of Trinamool is meeting the newly appointed Chief election Commissioner to raise concerns over the voter list. He also demanded extensive revision of the voter lists, especially before the assembly elections in West bengal and assam next year.

Saugata Roy claimed, 'There are some serious flaws. This has been said in the case of Maharashtra, where there was manipulation in the voter lists. This was also pointed out in Haryana. Now they are trying to enter West bengal and assam, where elections are due next year.' The Trinamool leader said, 'There should be a comprehensive revision of the entire voter list. The election commission should answer the country why some mistakes were made in the lists.'
