Since donald trump became president of the united states, there has been tension between india and the US. In addition to starting to deport indians who are living in the US illegally, the trump administration is getting ready to slap high taxes on India.

The united states has now chastised india for acquiring Russian munitions.  US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has advised india to cease acquiring Russian munitions.  He said improving relations between india and the US requires limiting Russian arms procurement.

Recall that President donald trump had promised india the F-35 fighter plane during prime minister Modi's visit.  India's dependence on Russian arms is highlighted in US publications, even as American authorities put pressure on the country.  These studies claim that without Russian weapons, the indian military is unable to function efficiently.

"India has historically purchased military equipment from russia on a large scale, and we understand that this needs to stop," US minister Howard stated during a television broadcast.  The US is prepared to offer American military systems as a substitute for Russian armaments, the minister continued.

India has bought USD 20 billion worth of weapons from the US since 2008. While the US has been lobbying india for years to cease buying Russian weaponry, a US government investigation has made a significant disclosure regarding India's dependence on Russian guns.

India is the Biggest Buyer of Russian Weapons
According to a 2021 US congress research report, the indian Army cannot combat successfully without Russian armaments. india would be dependent on Russian armaments for many years to come, according to the assessment.

Many observers in india and around the world think that India's reliance on Russian weapons will continue in the years to come, according to the CRS research.  "Russia is willing to give india weapons and technologies that no other nation in the world offers," the article added.  India is receiving weapons from russia at very alluring prices.

But according to this U.S. study, Russia's weaponry supplies to india have been steadily decreasing since the Modi administration took office in 2015. The S-400 missile defense system, which is thought to be better than America's Patriot and THAAD systems, was recently acquired by India. According to the research, almost two-thirds (62%) of India's arms purchases since 2010 have come from Russia. The biggest importer of Russian weaponry is India. SIPRI estimates that this number is around one-third.
