There has long been criticism about the quality of the food and drinks offered to train passengers. When vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is made in the same area, many travelers continue to have doubts about the cleanliness and quality of the food being served.

However, did you know that there is a train in india that only offers vegetarian food? It is a completely Sattvik train.  India's first vegetarian-only train is the Vande Bharat Express, which runs from delhi to Katra.  No meat, eggs, or other non-vegetarian foods are used in the meals that are served aboard this train.  This train was created especially for devotees who want to eat Sattvik meals while traveling to seek Mata Vaishno Devi's blessings.

In addition to serving vegetarian food, the New Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express forbids passengers from carrying non-vegetarian snacks or meals on board.

'Satvik' certification
The 'Satvik' certification has been given to this train, which makes it even more special.  It has been declared a fully vegetarian train in accordance with an agreement between the indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and the "Satvik Council of India."  Only vegetarian cuisine is served by the waitstaff, and non-vegetarian food is strictly forbidden in the kitchen.

Several trains operating on religious routes are now being "Satvik certified" by irctc (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) to guarantee that the food served to devotees is pure and Satvik.  This effort was started in 2021 by the Satvik Council of india and irctc to offer religious pilgrims entirely pure and Satvik meals while they are traveling by rail.
