Is Sikandar merely another remake from the South?  When salman and A.R. murugadoss teamed up, that was the question.  Many believed it to be a remake of Sarkar, starring Thalapathy Vijay.  However, it has recently been shown that Sikandar is not a remake. Good news?  Not at all.  Is there anything worse than a remake?  An old script out of the past.

A script that murugadoss wrote years ago but never used is reportedly the basis for Sikandar.  Salman is working with something that was put on hold a long time ago rather than a brand-new idea.  Social media users are already questioning why this script wasn't created sooner and if it was that excellent.

It has been updated by writers Rajat Arora, abbas Dalal, and Hussain Dalal, but can they truly bring something that was never thought to be worth creating in the first place up to date?  The movie has all the makings of an Eid release, action, and a popular performer in Salman.  Is that sufficient, though?  In addition to celebrity power, audiences today seek out new narratives.

Social media users claim that Murugadoss's most recent films, darbar and Spyder, were out of date and unimpressive.  Sikandar will struggle if it adopts the same pattern.  Is bollywood making the same error of depending on old stories again?  It's been years since salman had a big Eid hit.  Radhe and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, his most recent Eid movies, were box office failures.

Although the preview didn't generate much interest, fans are hoping Sikandar will change that.  Social media users believe salman is trapped in the past by selecting movies that don't appeal to the evolving tastes of his fans.  Will Sikandar's rockstar status be harmed if he proves to be just another antiquated action drama?

Sikandar still has a chance to deliver in spite of all the worries.  At his peak, murugadoss created bollywood successes like Holiday and Ghajini.  Sikandar will hush the naysayers if he has done a good job reworking the plot.  Will it be another disappointing Eid or Salman's huge comeback?
