Viral moments are often in Bengaluru, and this time, a South Bengaluru restaurant has drawn notice online with an odd regulation. customers are gently reminded by a notice inside the restaurant that the place is for dining, not contentious debates about politics or real estate values.  a picture of the sign that says, "This establishment is exclusively for dining purposes, not for discussions about politics or real estate."

After being posted on X, the message, "Please understand and cooperate," swiftly gained popularity.  The ban was humorous to many internet users, who joked that since Bengaluru parks are closed in the afternoon, real estate brokers are not even allowed to discuss properties in parks.

While some users mockingly questioned how the staff would enforce the restaurant's policy, others praised it as a "healthy and helpful" move.  A table-to-table monitoring service, perhaps?  Some noted that other Bengaluru eateries have similar banners, implying that the city's dining establishments might be unofficially announcing that they are real estate and politics-free zones.

The restaurant's decision to impose this regulation is easy to understand.  A quiet meal can be considered a luxury in a city where the topic of conversation is constantly about the latest political drama or the soaring cost of real estate.  Whether this policy enhances the dining experience or merely adds to the list of topics Bengaluru residents enjoy discussing is up for dispute.  We can still talk about that, just not in the restaurant.
