The first player to win the ICC Player of the Month three times..!?

Following the conclusion of the 2025 Champions Trophy series, the international Cricket Council has now announced the Player of the Month award for february 2025. This time, Shubman Gill won the award. Shubman Gill shares first place with Babar Azam in the list of those who have won this monthly ODI award the most times. The group stage matches of the Champions Trophy series were held in february 2025. Before that, all the teams played various ODI series to prepare for the series. The international Cricket Council has selected the best player based on their performance in those matches. Three players were initially proposed in the list of the best players. India's Shubman Gill, Australia's Steve Smith, and New Zealand's Glenn Phillips are the three candidates for the Player of the Month award for February.
Out of these, Shubman Gill has played 5 matches in february and has scored 406 runs. His average is 101.5. His strike rate is 94.19. He scored 50+ runs in three consecutive matches in the series against England.In the ODI series against England, Shubman Gill scored 87 runs in the first ODI, 60 runs in the second ODI, and 112 runs in the third ODI in Ahmedabad. Following this, he was awarded the ICC ODI Player of the Month award for february for his excellent performance.

Shubman Gill has previously won the ICC ODI Player of the Year awards in january and september 2023. Having won the award three times, Shubman Gill shares the top spot with Babar Azam in the list of the most number of winners of the award. He also holds the record of becoming the most number of indian players to win the award.
