'Some people don't get married because they will be beaten with a rolling pin at home', why did cm Yogi say this?
Lucknow News: CM Yogi said, "Earlier, the situation was such that it was almost impossible to get a gas connection or cylinder. Many people knew that they would not get a gas connection and they would be beaten with a rolling pin at home."
UP News: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on wednesday took a dig at his cabinet colleague and senior bjp leader suresh Kumar Khanna at an event here to distribute subsidy for refilling gas cylinders under the Centre's Ujjwala scheme.
Pointing to deputy chief minister Brijesh Pathak's earlier mention of the difficulties in getting a gas cylinder connection, the chief minister, at the event, quipped that many people choose to remain unmarried to avoid the domestic consequences of running out of cooking gas.
Pointing to the state's unmarried 71-year-old Finance minister suresh Kumar Khanna, the chief minister quipped, "Khanna ji is sitting here. Poor guy! He knew that if guests came during festivals and the gas cylinder ran out, it would be embarrassing. How would food and festival dishes be prepared? That is why people were worried."
I had to face scolding at home- cm Yogi Adityanath
"Earlier, the situation was such that getting a gas connection or cylinder was almost impossible. Many people knew that they would not get a gas connection and would be beaten with a rolling pin at home. So, some people decided not to get married at all," Adityanath said. Taking his sarcasm further, the chief minister recalled how people who went out to arrange for a gas cylinder either faced police action for using political influence or were scolded at home.
The chief minister said, "If you tried to act like a leader and take a cylinder, the police would beat you with sticks. If you did not do this, you would get scolded at home." He said that to avoid both, some people remained unmarried. Khanna, a nine-time mla and currently the minister of Finance and Parliamentary Affairs in the Uttar Pradesh government, could not stop laughing at this comment and the rest of the people present in the program also laughed.
