Pakistan train Hijack: prime minister reached Balochistan!

Pakistan prime minister Shahbaz Sharif visited balochistan on thursday (March 13, 2025). Shahbaz Sharif met the victims of the Jaffar Express hijack case. Apart from this, he also met the commandos involved in the rescue operation, who rescued more than 300 passengers.

This visit of Shahbaz Sharif took place on thursday, the day after the killing of 33 terrorists of the balochistan Liberation army, who had hijacked the Jaffar Express train in Quetta, Balochistan. Shahbaz Sharif was accompanied by Deputy prime minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan's Federal Information and Broadcasting minister Ataullah Tarar, Science and technology minister Nawabzada Mir Khalid Magsi and other officials.

Jaffar Express was hijacked on Tuesday

The attack on Jaffar Express started on tuesday when balochistan Liberation army (BLA) fighters blew up the railway track. After the attack, 9 coaches and the engine of Jaffar Express got stuck in a tunnel in the mountainous area near Gudlar and Piru Kunri. After this, BLA fighters fired bullets at the windows of the train before entering the train coaches. Many passengers lost their lives in the attack, while many passengers were injured and others were taken hostage by BLA.

After the hijacking of Jaffar Express, the pakistan army launched a 2-day rescue operation which ended on wednesday with the elimination of all 33 BLA fighters.

Pakistan army issued a statement

The pakistan army said that during the attack on the train, BLA terrorists were in direct contact with their leaders in afghanistan through satellite phones. Regarding this matter, the Pakistani army has appealed to the Afghan Taliban government not to use its territory for cross-border terrorist activities. These allegations of pakistan have been consistently denied by the Afghan government.

Rescue and aftermath

The military operation involved units of the pakistan Air Force (PAF), Special service Group (SSG), army and Frontier Corps (FC). pakistan army spokesman Lieutenant General ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that the security forces acted swiftly to neutralize the threat and rescue the hostages. He said, 'Such terrorist acts will not be tolerated. Chaudhry stressed, 'This incident has changed the rules of the game'.
