Basavaraj Bommai called the karnataka nurse murder case a 'love jihad', and said - women are not safe in the congress government.


A senior police officer said that apart from Nayaz, Durgachari and Vinayak are also accused in the case. Both of them took swati near the tungabhadra river on some pretext and helped Nayaz in the murder.

Communal tension arose in karnataka over the death of a nurse when her murder was confirmed in the post-mortem. A person has been arrested in this case. bharatiya janata party (BJP) mp Basavaraj Bommai termed it a case of 'love jihad' and alleged that such incidents have increased since the congress government came to power.


22-year-old swati Byadagi was found dead near the tungabhadra river in Fatehpur village. She was a native of Masuru village in Rattihalli taluk of Haveri district and worked in Ranebennur. swati went missing on marchand her body was later found. Her family identified the body. After the postmortem confirmed the murder, the police intensified the investigation and arrested Nayaz in the case.


A senior police officer told PTI, "Swati and Nayaz were in a relationship and he had promised to marry Swati. However, he started distancing himself from swati after his marriage was fixed with another girl from his community."


He said that when swati threatened him that she would expose him if he left her, Nayaz allegedly hatched a conspiracy to kill her. The senior police officer said, "There are two more accused in the case - Durgachari and Vinayak. They took swati near the tungabhadra river on some pretext and helped Nayaz in killing her."


Durgachari and Vinayak have been absconding since the murder. bjp leader Basavaraj Bommai, in a statement, condemned Swati's murder and alleged that 'love jihad' networks are active in the state and such incidents are on the rise due to the lack of fear among criminals.


He said that only by giving strict punishment to the culprits can such incidents be stopped. Basavaraj Bommai urged the state government to give proper compensation to Swati's family and ensure justice. Bommai alleged that ever since the congress came to power in karnataka, women are not safe.
