Pooja Hegde, once a prominent figure in telugu cinema with hits like 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' and 'Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava', has recently shifted her focus towards tamil and hindi film industries. This transition appears to be influenced by a series of setbacks in her telugu projects. Notably, she was initially cast in Mahesh Babu's 'Guntur Kaaram' but was later replaced by Sreeleela for undisclosed reasons. Following this, she hasn't signed any new telugu films, leading to speculation about her standing in Tollywood.

Concurrently, Hegde has embraced significant opportunities in tamil cinema. She is set to star alongside Suriya in the upcoming film 'Retro', where she portrays a de-glamorized role, marking a departure from her previous glamorous avatars. Additionally, she has been cast opposite Vijay in 'Thalapathy 69', further cementing her presence in Kollywood. Her bollywood endeavors continue as well, with projects like 'Deva' alongside shahid kapoor and 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' with varun Dhawan.

Despite her current focus on tamil and hindi films, there are indications of a potential return to telugu cinema. Reports suggest that Hegde is set to collaborate with dulquer salmaan in an upcoming telugu romantic drama, expected to commence filming in late 2025. This development hints that, while her recent projects have been outside Tollywood, she remains open to engaging with telugu cinema, possibly awaiting the right script and collaboration.
